It’s great to see that devoted Nintendo users have not been left out when it comes to the latest technological devices. For years data storage has always been a problem especially on portable equipment such as the Game Boy. Often this would frustrate game players, as they would not be able to save their progress due to lack of space. However, nowadays this needn’t be a problem with easy to use plug-in devices offering more than just extra storage. The revolution for Nintendo DS and DS Lite, or for short “r4”, has indeed revolutionized not only data storage but also modern internet game playing as well. You may ask yourself how is it possible that I can play the same game on my computer and on my Nintendo DS, using the “r4” card without any incompatibility issues? It all boils down to the thorough research and testing done by the programmers and developers responsible for this card. A lot of fine tuning has been done over the past few years to enable as few glitches as possible- in both the firmware and software. Devoted gamers have been recruited for various stages of beta testing as well, to produce what we have today. In essence - a card that is compatible with a variety of different operating systems. If you’re thinking how do I get this dream job and become one of these beta testers, getting paid to test devices such as the “r4” and the latest games? Well the answer is simple, simple submit your CV to a job website, preferably within the gaming industry. There are loads out there, but if your résumé is anything like mine, it will require some formatting and updating with your most recent work history. At the moment there are various companies desperately in need of games testers, usually in Quality Assessment.

Often these jobs will require some experience with devices such as the “r4” and Nintendo DS and knowledge of a programming language, such as C++ and/or previous experience testing games. If you are starting a new résumé from scratch, or unsure if your résumé will cut it amongst other applications, then it’s highly recommended you utilize one of the many free resume wizards online. These will help you create a CV that will get your application noticed and at the very least an interview. If you do get an interview, try to talk about related testing experience, i.e. if you tested “r4” adaptors then talk about this. Always give as much relevant experience as possible in the interview, and remember if the question is a challenging one, pausing to think about answering it is okay. Finally, if you can’t answer a question be honest and try and talk about a related subject or experience.
